Moonlight’s Back In Style…with Nicky Campbell and Mark Moraghan THURSDAY MARCH 11TH
"A welcome venture into the world of swing. Angel Don't Cry in particular is a charming and moving ballad." Sir Michael Parkinson Moonlight's Back In Style was launched in the Autumn of 2009 on the Linn Records label. In a very special musical collaboration, two of television’s best known faces have got together to create an album of original swing, inspired by the lives we've led and the dreams we've had. The singer Mark Moraghan, has trodden a glittering and acclaimed path as an actor [Owen Davis in Holby City, Greg in Brookside, Ray Wyatt in Dream Team and as Barry Scouser in Harry Enfield and Chums] but swing is his thing. It always was. How could it not be? The Police drummer, Stuart Copeland, said of Mark “He is relaxed, easy and cool” and described his singing as “Blazing excellence.” CeCe Sammi, the vocal coach to the stars, said, “He’s very tender, very passionate, very sexy – superb.” "He is relaxed, easy and cool ..Blazing excellence" Stewart Copeland, The Police And who is this partner? BBC Radio & TV's Nicky Campbell. And this really is his bag. A revelation is one word use to describe these songs. Nicky wrote the lion share and collaborated with Mark on the rest. The award winning Radio presenter and household TV name has been writing music professionally on and off since he was 21. It started with Radio and TV jingles in the eighties and then a load of music for Radio One in the Nineties, garnering a Sony Award for his efforts. He would have done so much more but life got in the way. Until now that is. It was in the stars when Mark and Nicky met on the BBC Series, Just the Two of Us. It was a meeting of musical minds and the chemistry was instant. They decided to fulfill their mutual musical ambition to make an album that would show that they DO sing ‘em and write ‘em like they used to. It's 'new swing' in the classic style and it all goes to prove Moonlight is Back in Style. And how! "Lovely. Makes your spirit soar" Harry Hill The top class band includes the celebrated arranger and pianist Paul Buck, bassist Mark Howell and drummer Sam Brown. We are pleased to announce Mark, and his musicians are playing here at The Jazz Café on March 11th! Nicky will accompany him for a show of banter, badinage, blazing excellence and beautiful songs.
